128 girls have been withdrawn from early marriages and reintegrated into school in Mukonchi and Nkole chiefdoms in Kapiri Mposhi district.

The girls have been withdrawn from early marriages through the girl’s education advocacy program and campaign against child marriages being implemented in the areas by Families Are Nations (FAN), a family based Non-governmental Organization (NGO).

All the girls have since been taken back to various schools in the area after undergoing counseling.

FAN President, Judith Mwila disclosed this in Kapiri Mposhi during the deferred commemoration of the International Day of Families held in Mukonchi chiefdom over the weekend.

Ms Mwila said the trend of marrying off children was widespread in rural areas of the district because of economic and traditional reasons.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
